Assistive Tech 5173 - Day 3 - Summer Session

Today's class was all about using Proloquo2Go. What an awesome app to use! Jill & I chose to create our activity for Nick, a 10 year old boy with autism. Nick is high functioning, but is not able to communicate well verbally, without prompting. Proloquo2Go was an amazing communicative tool for Nick to interact with the world.

Our activity we designed for Nick was to create your own delicious or gross ice cream sundaes! We thought it would be fun & interactive, plus a good way for him to design his own delicious dessert (as well as some gross options, too!). This was my first experience using Proloquo2Go and I was pleasantly surprised with how user-friendly it was to use. We created our own folders quite easily to hold our different ice cream flavors & toppings, and customized the background colors, border thicknesses, etc.

I'm so glad to get the experience using Proloquo2Go so that I can readily assist any students/EA's/teachers on how to use it in the classroom, when necessary. It's such a useful product to have experience with! Looking forward to sharing our creation tomorrow & to see what everyone else has made.

  2. Chris, It was great to see you refer to the professional applications of this activity. I think that is speaks to the design of the course. Although I am uncomfortable with much of the technology, it is refreshing to be involved in a grad course that has immediate hands on applications for us.
